Scrapbooking has turned into my life one of my biggest passions, I enjoy creating layouts and altered objects. My daughter is very often seen on my projects because my style is more feminine but I also love to create stories about my son. I like design my ideas and create what I had imagined at the beginning especially for 3D projects. I generally spends much time on each creation, especially if it presents a picture to express my feelings better. Adding details and dimensions to my papercrafts is my favorite part. Embellishments are very important to me and more particularly flowers, stitching and cut-outs. My main reason for scrapping is recording the stories of my family, you will always find journalling on my layouts so I felt it was the perfect fit. I look forward to sharing my stories with you along the way. Here is a link to my blog : Glass Half Full

Ania Zaprzelska (Poland)
My name is Anna Zaprzelska, also known as Brises. I live in Poland with my family (my husband and one wonderful son).I discovered scrapbooking in 2009, but did not scrap as consistently as now and never imagined that scrapbooking would become a passion, or that I would have a craft-corner in my home dedicated to the hobby... Now, I’m addicted to scrapping and enjoy creating everyday. Every little things in my life are just an other reason to create more pages. And, of course, my family has always been a great source of inspiration for me. At the end - stamps! I really love stamps! I proudly design for 7 Dots Studio, Ridderholm Design, Pion Design, Galeria Rae and Bird Is the Word. I am sooooo excited to be a part of this amazing team and invite you to visit me on my blog:

Tina Walker  (USA)
First of all, I would like to thank Nadia for including me in the amazing and talented OUAS family.  I feel truly blessed.  I am looking forward to getting to know you better and to be able to share my love for this wonderful art form. Who am I?  Well, I created my first scrapbook over 15 years ago, but my latest obsession with scrapbooking started about 3 years ago and I haven't stopped since.  I think I am drawn to this art because of the great styles, techniques, and product that are used in scrapbooking today and that all styles are embraced and loved.I often get asked what my scrapbook style is.  A good pre-defined definition doesn't exist, so I like to use the word 'chameleon'.  I like to try new techniques and designs, so you may see pages from me that encompass the meaning of 'white space' all the way to an artsy, grungy page. Many of my layouts are of my two French bulldogs, Moose & Flikka.  My kids are grown, so they don't cooperate much with my photo taking and scrapbooking obsession, so the next best things are my four legged friends.  In addition, you might also see layouts from me of totally random and obscure objects or everything things.  These things intrigue me and I love to scrap about them. Scrapbooking also allows me to share my other obsession, photography.  They go hand in hand with each other.  My phone, (with camera) are always with me and I take a picture almost every day.Thank you again to Nadia and the OUAS community.  I look forward to days full of creating. My Blog: A Dog's Life

Vicky Alberto (Canada)
Hi, my name is Vicky Alberto (aka Simply Paper on some gallery sites) and I live in Alberta, Canada with my husband and three children. Almost 4 years ago, after having my last child, I decided not to return to a corporate marketing job so I could raise my three young children for a while. After ten years in the marketing industry, scrapbooking was a natural extension of my work world to fill a creative void... and I was instantly hooked!
I describe my style as “a little shabby and a lot of chic”, LOL. For layout projects, I like each layout to look like a piece of art so I keep my titles short and journal on the back - to keep a clean look to my pages. I enjoy working with vintage/romantic style papers and adore adding distressed layers, doilies, chipboard and flowers to my projects. Some of my projects feature handmade flowers and my tutorials are all listed on my blog (quick links in the right sidebar). My blog address is where I chat about my work, the fantastic companies I design for, and share my flower tutorials. I have been blogging for two years and am overwhelmed that I already have so many wonderful followers. This industry has such a deeply supportive and kind online network of ladies. I have “met” the most amazing people from all over the world through various online communities and have had the opportunity to "work" with some of the most talented ladies in the industry. I now fully embrace (the thing I used to avoid) the internet to share and gain creative inspiration. I am thrilled to have been asked by Nadia to design for OUAS!

More Design Team Introductions!!

You still have time to enter our current challenge. For more details please click HERE

Today I will continue to introduce to you a few more members of our new Design Team. All these ladies have different styles and approached to scrapping and I sure hope you enjoy getting to know them a lot more.

Hilde Aaslund (Norway)

My name is Hilde Aaslund and I am a sketch addict! I live in Norway with my hubby, two boys 9 &12,  FIL and a number of pets: dog, cat and budgies. I work full time as an engineer at construction sites and spend my leisure time driving kids to activities, running this place called home and scrap.I started my paper craft career as a card maker in 2005, but transformed to a layout scrapper a year later. My main scrap subjects are - quite naturally- my family, but I also scrap about subjects found in our everyday life – the pets, our friends, funny signs and anything that makes my day special. As life is busy, I hardly have time to sit down and scrap for hours, and this is reflected in my scrap style: often simple I-can-do-that layouts with plenty of white space or quite linear. But on occasions I get carried away and keep adding details as if I were paid by the number  J  Currently, I am on the DT for one of the US’ largest kit clubs, I have been published several times and I still enjoy participating in challenges on challenge blogs!I am, as I said, a sketch addict, and I am thrilled beyond words to be a part of the OUAS DT! Here is my blog:

Camilla Ekman (Sweden)

I'm Camilla Ekman from southern Sweden. I work as a Montessori teacher and when I'm off work I do what I love most - that is of course scrapbooking. My favourite scrapping subjects are my two children, Julia and Filip, but also my sweet nieces and nephews. I have scrapped since early 2007 and enjoyed every minute of my hobby. Through scrapbooking I keep my memories alive but above all I get to be creative. I get to use my hands! I would say that I tend to scrap romantic and shabby. I love using flowers, bling and lace. When I don't scrap I enjoy books, travelling and spending lots of time with friends. I am so proud and honoured to design for Glitz Design, C’est Magnifique Kit Club and now Once Upon A Sketch. I LOVE sketches! My blog:

                                                          Svetlana Austin (South Africa)

Hi, everyone! My name is Svetlana Austin. I am a Russian girl who ended up living in hot South Africa for the last 10 years. I met my husband while he was doing mission work in Russia. We have 2 beautiful sons who keep us busy and fill our lives with sunshine (not that we have lack of it in the northern part of our country). I was always creative. I tried many different crafts but once I was introduced to scrapbooking by my friend, I never stopped. It was 8 years ago. I defiantly love to create layouts about my little boys. My aim is to reflect their personalities through my work. I love to make real boy’s layouts full of colors and details. I like to use paint and sprays in my projects, as well as hand-stitching. Sometimes I like to make very romantic and feminine layouts about myself or about my girl-friends. It allows me to express the stuff that I personally like. My scrapbooking style is always determined by photographs I use and what kind of story I would like to tell through my project. I had a pleasure to design for various Russian and international challenge blogs. I am also honored to design for Kaisercraft. You can visit my blog at Colourful Memories (

Mona Pendleton (USA)
My name is Mona Pendleton, I live with my sweet husband, Scott, two teenage step children, Connor 16, Meredith 15 and two 5 year old Westies, Gretchen and Griffin in Phoenix, AZ. I have two college age young adult children as well, Jerry 24 and Angie 22. I work as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room of an Orthopedic Hospital and in my spare time, I find it enjoyable to use the other side of my brain, playing with paper crafting products creating various projects.I first started scrapbooking too long ago to remember when which spilled over into card making, creating home décor projects and gifts for family, friends and co workers. I love lots of layers, colors and find happiness in all the little details! My blog : Cupcake's Creations
Kelly Foster (USA)
My name is Kelly Foster, I live in northern Minnesota (USA), with my other half, Jeremy, and our two beautiful red-headed daughters, Lilah and Paisley. I began scrapbooking shortly after Lilah was born, in 2010, and quickly became completely obsessed!! I love everything about this amazing hobby...I'm always wanting to try new things, and I especially enjoy working with sketches. I think my style is really all over the place...I will create a big pile of layers and mess one day,and something totally clean and simple the next!  Aside from scrapbooking, when I can find the time, (or just need a break from scrapbooking..) I love to sew, (I recently taught myself!), cook and bake, shop, read, and of course, enjoy my babies (and take tons of photos of them..)!! I am so excited and honored to be joining this amazing team of designers, and so thankful to Nadia for giving me this awesome opportunity!! My blog: Scrappin'Sisters

Helena Virpi (Italy)

I'm extremely happy and honored to be part of the fabulous and extremely talented Design Team at OUAS. My name is Helena Virpi, I'm 54, originally Finnish, Italian by marriage and temperament. 3 kids, 1 husband. I have lived in Rome for the past 30 years and love it!

I started scrapbooking in 2005 and it was love at first sight. I have always done something with my hands, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and paper piecing but that was just the right time to start something new. My scrapbooking has gone through various phases from clean and simple but very much color coordinated to overly rich and elaborate which included layering, tearing, distressing and inking but for a long time I wasn't happy with my pages. I was convinced that there was a certain way, ”the right way” to scrapbook and I was frustrated because I wasn't achieving that. I was also haunted by the urge to preserve memories and to always include meaningful journaling. Two years ago I discovered mixed media and through various techniques and through much trial and error I have learned to express myself more freely and finally let go of the misconception that there's a ”right way” to scrapbook. I have found my style and I'm pleased with my pages. They are not perfect but they are ”me”. I do like to preserve memories and I like to think that my kids will appreciate my pages and their content one day, but I really scrapbook for myself: it's therapeutic, I love to play with colors and textures and sometimes I scrap a photo just because. Too many rules kill the joy and  spontaneity. My other passions are photography, traveling and reading. I love my life! I currently design for CSI. I'd love you to visit me on my blog Scrappassion

Farewell To The Original Team and Hello New Team!

We are but a few days away from the end of June and in the next week or so I will be introducing the new team so you get to know them a little bit more.

It is with sadness though that the end of June will bring with it the end of the term of the Design Team. Sure this is the natural progression of things..but you see this was a very very very special team of women. I know this will sound pretty corny but I was very blessed to have all these people alongside me, creating a storm or supporting me and this site since March 2011.

I really do not wish to get into the details, but towards the end of 2011 I went through a pretty difficult time . One of those things where your life changes from one minute to the next. I was pretty much about to give it all up, including Once Upon A..Sketch which I had worked so hard for. But a team they held it all together for me. All of them, in their own way took over and did what they could and I am so grateful because here we are ..many months later and I am so glad I didn't let go of this. Thank you girls from the very bottom of my heart for all your efforts in helping me on a personal note and helping Once Upon A..Sketch reach where it is today. You all knew that Once Upon A..Sketch was more than just a challenge blog for me... It meant many many things to me during the last few months and you hung in there with me.  I know you might not believe me, but I simply could not have done this without you.  Your work ethic and professionalism is second to none and because of this and the outstanding level of work you produced each and every month we have, in my humble little opinion, set a very high standard for future Design Team members and participants alike.

I might introduce a new team, and I might remove your photos from our sidebar...but you will always hold a very special place in my heart and I wish you nothing but the best. As I told you before, I will be looking for your names in the scrapping industry everywhere and support you all in whatever it is you choose to do.

SO goodbye to...

They are hugely much that one cannot help but feel intimidated when their layouts are all collectively shown together. Just wait ' till the July reveal!

Today, I want to  also introduce you to one more person that sneaked into our Design Team very quietly and  very humbly asked not to make a separate announcement for her and not to make a big deal..! That says a lot about a  person I think! So its with much excitement that I introduce you to  Karola Witczak together with a few other members of the new Design Team

Karola Witczak (Poland)

My name is Karola Witczak. I am an absolutely addicted scrapbooking Mommy to Rose and wife to Marcin. We live in Poland/Europe, near the border with Germany. I'm a pretty crazy woman, who is dedicated to my scrapbooking passion almost every day, for a few years now.  I am constantly trying to develop my passion - in different ways and stepping on different paths - from digital scrapbooking 6 years ago, to an intensive exploration of the intricacies of traditional scrapbooking, constant learning and teaching others as a scrapbooking instructor. Currently I am working as a freelance designer for a large group of scrapbooking companies, shops, projects, challenge blogs and I'm proud ambassador of many top brands and initiatives in my country of Poland and abroad like a Pink Paislee, Melissa Frances, Glitz Design and others... Sometimes I design products for scrapbooking - it gives me lots of joy and satisfaction. I am proud and honored to being Creative Director and Product Designer in The ScrapCake company, so it's my full time job which I make at home. In everyday life I create a LO's, cards, albums, and other things not directly related to scrapbooking - such as notebooks, home decors.
It is hard to define my style, mostly my friends call it "Karola's style," and often hear that this is a soft, romantic, feminine, eclectic. I love shabby chic but with something modern. In most of my work you can usually see portraits of my daughter - I am absolutely in love with her face, and such pictures usually go to my Lo's and albums. Definitely I like all feminine, romantic themes, delicate, soft colors, I'm also dependent on the sewing machine, especially when I make cards. I love to add new things to my projects, but usually I have a big inspirations from patterned papers, flowers and interesting color palettes - I believe when I have a piece of paper I can create anything! Besides scrapbooking I love to cook, read (for the books I definitely spent much more money than for scrapbooking!), I'm a geek about thrillers and horrors in the books and films. I'm also a rock girl, but I love jazz and bossanova too, I love live music, coffee, and I am dependent on buying jeans and sneakers.

Luzma Bruna (Chile)
First of all I want to say thank you so so much to Nadia for inviting me to be  designer of this fabulous site and share with such lovely and talented ladies.I feel so honored and I love her sketches. My name is Luz Maria but everybody calls me Luzma.  I`m almost 47 years old. I also love everything crafty.I love cross stitch and knitting as well. Currently I am on the Design Teams for Bo Bunny and My Creative Scrapbook.  My Blog: Luzma's Scrap Place

Cathy Cafun (USA)
Hi, my name is Cathy and I live in Queensland, Australia with my very supportive husband of 25 years and 2 teenage children Luke and Brittany.  Scrapping has been part of my life for about 7 years now and it’s an all-consuming passion!!I’m not sure of my style as it is constantly evolving, but I do love Shabby Chic/Vintage and am very partial to the grungy distressed look. My inspiration usually starts with photos of my family, and I just let my creations flow from there, but I also find inspiration from browsing blogs, online galleries & mags and all the ever-changing & exciting products out there.   My creations usually have elements of texture and dimension and I find fussy cutting, layering and distressing a wonderful way to achieve this.  I really enjoy experimenting with new techniques and am loving mixed media at the moment.  Currently, I am designing for, Meg’s Garden, Scrapmatts  Berry71Bleu & Bird is the Word. My blog is if you want to stop by and say hello.I'm  so excited to have been asked to be part of this fabulously talented group which make up the OUAS Design Team... thank you so much Nadia.

Efi Stamatelli (Greece)

Hi there, my name is Efi Stamatelli!I live in Athens/Greece, but I was born and studied in Germany!I am happily married with Costas and have two adorable kids(Maria and Vassilaki)!I discovered scrapbooking 2 years ago and I have been hooked ever since, I am addicted and enjoy myself immensely when I am creating a mini album or a layout! My main inspiration comes from my family, because I feel that scrapbooking is a way of telling our own family story! This hobby helps me also to escape from this ‘crisis issue’ that has plunged my country as well as our psychology. I don't have a specific style; I'm still learning and discovering the wonderful world of scrapbooking. But when I create something, I love to use flowers pearls and crystals!I proudly design for Get Creative, our Greek challenge blog and also OUAS sister blog!!!I consider Nadia’s challenge blog to be one of the best out there, because it intrigues us to tell ‘our story’ writing pieces of journaling in our creations. I am sooooo thrilled to be part of OUAS amazing team!!!! Thank you so much Nadia for inviting me!!!!!My blog …

Kay Fatula  (USA)

My name is Karla but I'm better known as Kay--a nickname I rec'd in college & it simply stuck.  I've loved arts/crafts my whole life.  I've been drawing since the first time I picked up my first crayon.  However, it wasn't until 2007 that I discovered scrapbooking & haven't looked back since.  Scrapbooking provides a means for me to release my artsy side & to document my life in order to pass down to future generations.  Along the way, I also discovered the art of stamping--I tend to stamp my own backgrounds & create my own designs.  I also enjoy doing the occasional altered art.  I've altered wooden frames, wooden boxes, mini albums & have done a couple of canvases.By day, I'm a senior level Quality Analyst working for a Fortune 100 global company. I'm married to a great guy that puts up with & supports my scrapbook & crafting addiction!  I have no kids as of yet.  Just one small fur-baby by the name of Toby who's my little ray of sunshine.  I have two sides to me--the technical/analytical side seen by day and the crafty/artistic side seen mostly by night.I'm looking forward to working with the OUAS team & to hopefully provide innovative inspiration to some of you along this new creative journey! To see more of my work or to learn more about me, please feel free to visit my

Erin Blegen  (USA)
Hi! My name is Erin Blegen, I'm 28 years old and live in rural Northeast Minnesota, USA. There my hubby Josh and I make our home in a little cabin in the woods along with our 3 beautiful children. We enjoy anything the outdoors has to offer and we live a fairly simple lifestyle that most people would not choose (no running water for starters lol)- but it's a good, quiet life and we like it that way :) I first started scrapbooking back in 2007 when my first child was born, completed one album, and then quit until July 2010 when my second child was born. Since then, I haven't looked back! In that time I"ve discovered my "style" which generally includes lots of beautiful layers, flowers, and distressing. I've also recently expanded my interests into cards and altered projects, which I've quickly fallen in love with! I'm a bit of a paper and flower collector, love to work with chipboard, and experimenting with different mediums.  I'm super excited to be joining the team at Once Upon A...Sketch. I've been a fan since discovering the site about a year ago, and have had the pleasure of getting to know Nadia through C'est Magnifique Kits, where I have the privilege of being on the design team with her. I also design for the Australian chipboard manufacturer Scrap FX, and Scrappin' Patch, a scrapbook store in New Zealand. You can find me at my blog: My Scrap Cabin

Stay tuned everyone as I introduce to you the rest of the team in the coming week!
Have a great day!

June Challenge Team B Reveal

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! We have reached the middle of the month already..Can you believe it? We are half way through the year already and time is going by too fast isn't it?

Well nothing we can do about it, but we can have some fun along the way and I hope scrapping makes you happy and its " your thing" ! I constantly say I wonder how it is that I stayed with a hobby for SO long because I get very bored very very easily and quickly. But I think its simply that scrapping is not just a hobby for me any more. It is part of everyday life and pretty much the only thing I do for me.

SO I sure hope you are enjoying creating too and today I have the very last reveal of our original team here at Once Upon A..Sketch. As of next month the new team will take over so this is nothing short of bitter sweet for me.

I won't go on about it now, as I will post a farewell post at the end of the month to properly say goodbye.

SO I hope you get some scrapping done this weekend and here is some more inspiration for you...
